Luc de Gijzel

Luc de Gijzel was born and raised in the Netherlands. He graduated at Delft university of Technology with a degree in Mining & Petroleum Engineering (Geophysics). He worked for several companies in a number of countries. Late 2004 the author came to Penang as manager of a packing manufacturing company. Not before long, he started attending the Penang Hokkien classes of Miss Lee Siew Har at the YMCA. Searching for a (Penang) Hokkien dictionary, he found none was available. Writing down words he came across in Penang, he started compiling his own. The author currently lives in The Hague, Holland, with his wife and their two children, both of them born in Penang.
