May’s Bestsellers

And the winner is … When we opened the bookshop on May Day we didn’t know what to expect. So it’s a matter of some fascination to have the sales figures for May. Top of the pile is Love In Penang – probably only a psychologist could tell us why! We think some titles are predictable – and as with just about every bookshop there are Fixi and Novo books to the fore. But we’re pleased that reprints of two classics from Shaharuddin Maaruf also made it.

Here’s the list:

1. Anna Tan (ed.), Love in Penang
2. Shaharuddin Maaruf, Concept of a Hero in Malay Society
3. Tunku Halim, Horror Stories
4. = Donna Amoroso, Traditionalism and the Ascendancy of the Malay Ruling Class
4. = Luisa WanLu Hung, Simple Fieldnotes of a Mama
6. = Zul Fikri Zamir, Sekolah Bukan Penjara, Universiti Bukan Kilang
6. = Shaharuddin Maaruf, Malay Ideas on Development
6. = Khoo Su Nin, Streets of George Town Penang
6. = Ernest Zacharevic, StreetArt Notebook George Town
10. Amir Muhammad (ed.), KL Noir: Red
