Ian Buruma
Ian Buruma is a Dutch writer and academic. Much of his work focuses on the culture of Asia, particularly that of China and twentieth-century Japan. Among his best-known books are A Japanese Mirror (1984), The Wages of Guilt (1994), The Missionary and the Libertine (2000), Murder in Amsterdam (2006), Taming the Gods: Religion and Democracy on Three Continents (2010) and Year Zero: The History of 1945 (2013). He was awarded the 2008 Erasmus Prize.
