Syaihan Syafiq

Syaihan Syafiq was born in Kelantan, but was raised almost entirely in Penang. He received his early education in Penang Free School and had developed an interest in writing ever since he was there.

He had just graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), obtaining B.Ed. (Hons) in TESL (Teaching English as Second Language). During his days in UKM, he started to get involved in theater production and had joined numerous production under the university’s theater group named Kelab Teater Rimba.

The year 2012 was such a big year for him because he had published his debut novel entitled BISIK, together with a compilation of short stories from various Fixi writers entitled KOPI. In September 2012, his short story entitled ‘Aku Yang Kegersangan’ is also included in Fixi’s second short stories anthology, BOLA, followed by another short story in the anthology entitled KLCC.

He also had written several short stories for the publisher Buku Hitam Press and hoped that soon he will be able to break into the field of writing in English as well.

He had just published a sequel to his debut novel, BISIK, entitled KOYAK in the middle of December, 2013. He is currently working on the concluding sequel to KOYAK, which he hoped will be released at the end of 2014.
