06 Dec Penang Monthly
This month’s copies of Penang Monthly arrived in the bookshop today. As usual, there’s a good array of interesting pieces: a history of local elections in Penang and art education in Malaysia stand out. But we’d like to draw your attention to Marco Ferrarese’s interview with Paul Malone, who has documented the Penan plight in his book, The Peaceful People; and a feature on Penang-based Machiko Nakayama who explains the simplicity behind the art of flower arrangement and neoclassical ikebana – the use of local flowers in the centuries-old Japanese art.
