Struggle For Justice: Bestcan Workers, The Untold Story 1977

This book captures the challenges and ongoing struggle for workers’ rights in Malaysia through a case study of milestone events that took place in Ipoh in 1977. These events activated members of the Young Christian workers (YCW) Movement to organise workers in order to protect their rights, and to eventually set up a trade union in the factory. The reflections in this book would be useful for today’s workers who seek to organise and improve the situation of their fellow workers. Struggle for Justice 1977 also gives a brief overview of the YCW Movement that was involved in workers’ issue in the 1970’s. The movement provided young workers a space to discuss the struggles they faced in their daily realities, as well as the methodology to analysed and respond to these issues.
