➽ The authors
Manju Saigal made her first roti with her beloved grandfather, learned to cook from her mother and a cherished sisterhood, and has since shared many recipes for the delicious food of an Indian home with her students in Malaysia. This is her first book, a food memoir she hopes future generations will treasure for its recipes, wisdom and stories.
Bettina Chua Abdullah is an incurable plate spinner. In addition to her role as director at Hikayat, she is the founder of The Fay Khoo Award for Food+Drink Writing, editor of Telltale Food and the award-winning author of the texts for the drone photography book Over Penang. She is currently researching the Islamic Mediterranean, and writing a travelogue of Sicily.
➽ The moderator
Dipika Mukherjee is a poet, novelist and the author of Shambala Junction which won the Virginia Prize, and Ode to Broken Things, longlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize. When not travelling and crafting tales of her adventures, she teaches creative fiction at the University of Chicago and leads writing workshops. Her latest volume of poetry, Dialect of Distant Harbors was published this year by Cavankerry Press.
