October’s Bestsellers

We’re REALLY behind with our monthly top of the pops, but here’s what you’ve been waiting for. We have one runaway winner for last month: Kim Gooi’s well-written collected writings of his times as a foreign correspondent – The Poet of Keng Tung Jail. Kim certainly has a sale’s pitch that’s second to none. It’s also good to see Lily Forbes’s Growing Up Under the Mango Tree doing so well after her visit to the bookshop. Besides lots of perennial favourites, there’s a special mention for Kenny Loh’s Born In Malaysia, especially since he has an exhibition of his photographs at China House right now; and also for Janet Pillai’s Cultural Mapping, a great resource for everyone interested in having a deeper understanding of the unique character and identity of George Town. Here’s the full list.
