Kota Airmata is one of the earliest works of Mohamed Latiff Mohamed which was first published in 1977. Set in a background of cosmopolitan Singapore, this novelette revolves around the life of a teenager, Ani, who finds herself trapped in poverty until one day, she meets a young man who kindly offers her help. She learns to hope again, and believes she is nearer to a beautiful ending she has always imagined. This novelette is an easy read and yet disturbs the mind to reflect on the marginalized in our highly advanced city-state. Prefaced by Dr Azhar Ibrahim, National University of Singapore.
