In its 171 pages the author looks at Malay villager stereotypes of outsiders, how villagers react to outside events, how the economics of the village governs its interaction with outsiders and the basis of social relations amongst the villagers themselves. There is also a bibliography and glossary of Malay colloquial terms used in the text.
