This work is the result of several years study by the author and colleagues of what is now determined to be the oldest known Malay document. It is was written in a pre-Jawi (Arabic/Malay) script, the Kerinci surat incung script. The book contains transliterations and translations of various parts of the documents. As James T Collins states in an earlier work the research lays “a major part of a foundation for rewriting the history of Malay in Indonesia.”
