World Poetry Day 2016

What does it mean to see the world as a poet does? The best answer is to join the annual celebration of World Poetry Day and take inspiration from an array of poetic offerings. Learn all about how to be good at being creative and the secrets of performing the spoken word in workshops with Danny Mahes, and the secrets of good poetic translation with Pauline Fan. There’ll be readings by the acclaimed poets Cecil Rajendra, Malachi Edwin Vethamani and Eddin Khoo, and a showcase of talents from Say It Like You Mean It. Penang-based writers Yasmin Bathamanthan and Ooi Kee How will launch their engaging bilingual collection, Found In Translation. And the centrepiece of the whole event will be a marathon reading of all of Shakespeare’s 154 sonnets to mark the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death. Breathe in the experience and breathe out poetry.
